ASTM Level 1 face masks are ideal for:
- Oral exams for low-risk patients
- Procedures involving low levels of spray and spatter
- Orthodontic treatment with little or no spray
- Hand instrumentation with little moisture or spray
- Fluoride treatments
- Basic lab work
Proper Use:
- Wash your hands before putting on your mask
- Put it over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin
- Try to fit it snugly against the sides of your face
- Make sure you can breathe easily
- Wear a mask correctly for maximum protection
- Do not put the mask around your neck or up on your forehead
- Do not touch the mask, and, if you do, wash your hands, or use hand sanitizer to disinfect
Warning and Precautions:
- Your hands can contaminate a clean mask. Wash your hand prior to applying a mask.
- Replace masks if they become damaged or if you feel an increased resistance in breathing.
- Use duration is recommended at 4 hours
- Keep masks out of direct sunlight.
- Failure to ensure proper facial fit will result in inadequate filtration & protection.
- Always double check that the mask has formed a snug fit with no gaps when first applying the mask.
